4th of July Weekend

Posted by Walter L Crawford at 06:56 PM on June 29, 2009

The 4th of July weekend is packed full of fun for all members of the Club.  The Saturday Race Series #5 is scheduled for 12:00 PM first flag, and skippers' meeting at 11:00AM.

Remember, it is a stagger start with adjusted handicaps so everyone can have a safe race, and the real possibility of winning, except maybe for me.  A few more "dead last" races and maybe I can justify new sails, a boom vang, real traveller, and a reaching strut.

The Sunfish committee will be there to help anyone learn and get checked out on the Sunfish. The Sunfish Races are July 25 so everyone needs to get checked out and practice up for the big race.  The Sunfish are available to "checked out" members any time, so this is a good tome to get checked out.

We will have a BBQ dinner (burgers and dogs, etc.) before the fireworks display.  Many members watch the fireworks from the Clubhouse deck and some venture out to a portside position abeam the USS Lexington for spectacular viewing.

Don't forget that it is a 3 day weekend for most, starting on Friday.  Therefore, there will be continual sailing, cruising, racing, eating, and socializing with friends.  I hope to see each of you there!  The Club is thriving and everyone is having a good time, please don't leave yourself out.
