SHIP ONE SEA SCOUTS BSA SAILING CLUB

CREWS USUALLY MEET TWICE MONTHLY, to discuss business, plan activities, and to hear speakers on all sorts of subjects related to sail: knots, spinnaker packing, boat maintenance, sail trim, tactics, knots, compass and chart, heavy weather sailing, night sailing, navigational aids, knots, tides and currents, and knots. You probably have the idea a properly tied knot is important to Sea Scouts. You are correct, knots are important. |

SEA SCOUTS SAIL A BUNCH, on boats donated by private citizens interested in youth. Sunfish, J-24s, Cal 25s, an old Columbia 26, a Hobie 18, and a Gulf Coast 20 make up the fleet available to the Corpus Christi Sea Scouts. Considering that SS crews are much sought after by the local racing fleet, opportunity to sail a variety of boats abounds. |

|
| |
ON THE WATER ACTIVITIES include instruction in basic sailing, regattas, midweek "kick back" racing, cruising, lollygaggin', on both small and big boats. When you are ready, you may be interested in taking a sailing instructor course, that might lead to a summer job teaching small boat sailing at a local yacht club or marina.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: We pay for our boat storage with monthly environmental reclamation efforts (trash pick up in the marina) - an opportunity to help keep the water and environs clean, and to learn a bit about what is in the water. |
