So, I ask you: WHY LIVE ON THE COAST, IF NOT TO SAIL? How else can you learn skills that can become a life long calling? Cruising, racing, and plain old lollygaggin' on the bay; compass and chart, first aid, handing lines, marlinespike seamanship, maintenance, dinghy instructor, and limbing the winds on the bay.

LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE: "main up, high side, tacking, starboard, running before the wind; and what it truly means "to be one with the wind".

SEA SCOUTS BSA provides opportunity and boats for teens 14 - 20 years, to sail Corpus Christi Bay, to build confidence, and learn a bit of team effort and community responsibility. The BAY YACHT CLUB provides the place to meet, and the opportunity to talk with old sailors who know where the shallow spots are.

SEA SCOUTS is Scouting oldest outdoor program for teens (ages 14 to20). Teens? Boys, and Girls? YES, GIRLS CAN JOIN, and make fine sailors both in the cockpit and on the foredeck. Just ask anyone whose lost a race to a Scout boat helmed by a girl.

Crews are organized along the lines of a small Scout troop, with an adult committee and program advisors. Advisors? Yes, the teen crew makes the plans and decisions for their crew, and carries them out. Adult advisors are around to keep the crew on course, and to assist with execution of the program designed by the crew.
